Drink Tokens

At Worcester CAMRA Beer, Cider & Perry Festival we operate 'Token bars'. No cash is accepted at the bars, only festival Drink Tokens. These Tokens are denominated in £1 and 10p. You must therefore convert some cash into Tokens before you can buy drinks. You can do this in advance by purchasing an Admission Package and collecting your Tokens at the Entrance Desk. Cash can also be converted to Tokens or vice versa at the Top Up Tokens desk in the marquee. Tokens can always be converted back into cash if you find you don't use all of them - and you can also convert more cash into Tokens at the Top Up Tokens desk if you find you need more. The Entrance Desk will only issue strips of £1 tokens, but the bar staff will be able to give 10p tokens in change. Tokens are used to buy beer, cider, perry, fruit wines and non-alcoholic fruit juices. Cash is used to buy items at the food concessions, the merchandise stall and the tombola. Surplus tokens can also be donated to our Festival Charities.

Young People at The Festival

Young people under 18 (proof may be required) will be admitted free of charge during the daytime sessions if accompanied by a parent/relative but will not be allowed to consume alcohol. Children under 14 should be taken off site by 7.30pm at the latest. Soft drinks for young people under 18 may be purchased from the food concessions. Parties containing children under 14 should sit in the entertainment marquee or outside the marquees but not in the marquees containing the bars.

An "Under 25" policy will be in place so if you are lucky enough to look under 25 please expect to be challenged. Young people should carry proof of age with them to ensure entry as licencing law demands that we refuse entry to anyone who we suspect is under 18 unless proof of age can be provided on request.

Intoxicated People at The Festival

We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone that we consider to have already consumed excess alcohol and to request people to leave the festival if their behaviour after consuming alcohol becomes a problem for the staff or other customers.

Dogs

Dogs on a lead will be allowed onto the Festival site but not into the marquees (other than to pass through). We reserve the right to ask for them to be removed if not well behaved. Any unsanitary incident must be immediately cleared by the owners. Passouts are available to allow them to be "walked" off site.

Smoking

In accordance with the law, smoking will not be permitted inside any of the marquees.

Accessibility for people with disabilities

Most of the festival site is level and firm ground and should be accessible to people in wheelchairs. A disabled toilet is available adjacent to the marquee however to prevent its use by able bodied people it is sited away from the public areas and therefore anyone wishing to use it should ask a Steward to assist them to locate it and access it. Taxis can come onto the racecourse and drop people off at the entrance and also pick people up from the same location.

Beer Availability

The settling characteristics of real ale (which continues secondary fermentation in the cask) constrain the supply available to that which has been delivered and placed on the stillage by the Tuesday of Festival week. Thus if more people than expected come and drink at the earlier sessions, it may be necessary to restrict entry to later sessions, consistent with the supplies available. In order to alleviate such problems, the Festival is purchasing enough beer & cider/perry for >10000 attendance in 2010.
As we cannot absolutely guarantee that there will be beer left by the final session on Saturday evening, it follows that we cannot guarantee that an advance ticket would get you in (not much point if there's nothing left to drink)! While there is still beer & cider/perry to drink (and this is our expectation due to the quantity ordered) and there are more people trying to get in than our fire limit then an advance ticket will always give you guaranteed entry over people who haven't bought them in advance. We also aim to process people with advance tickets more efficiently at the entrance desk if we can.

Glass Usage, Charges & Refunds

Drinks will only be served at the bars in oversized and Government stamped and lined glasses originating from the Worcester CAMRA or other official CAMRA festivals.

Worcester CAMRA Festival pint glasses are lined at half-pint and pint levels so can be used to buy either quantity. Half-pint glasses are lined only at the half-pint level. We do not provide third-pint lines or sell our beers in third-pint measures - sorry.

On entry to the festival only, a refund of the cost of a glass will be made if the customer does not require a current year festival glass, provided that the customer can prove that they have with them an oversized, Government Stamped and clearly lined, glass purchased at a CAMRA organised festival.

As they are leaving the festival only, a glass refund will be available to customers on request provided that:
- the glass being returned is intact with no chips or cracks and is capable of being cleaned
- the glass being returned is a 2010 Worcester CAMRA Beer, Cider & Perry Festival glass (other CAMRA glasses at our discretion)
- only 1 refund per customer will be provided

Replacements for lost or broken glasses will be charged at cost.

The cost of a glass and the glass refund value will be available at the entry desk.

Credit and debit card use on site

We plan to have credit / debit card readers available on the Entrance Desk and on the Merchandise Stall however it would be wise not to rely on their availabilty as we are in the middle of a racecourse - please bring cash as well.

Parking

There is no public parking on the racecourse. There are plenty of public car parks nearby as shown on the festival site map and on the travel page.

goto top

Camping

There is no public camping on the racecourse. As the racecourse is in the centre of the City, the nearest campsites are on the outskirts of the City as described on the travel page.

Entrance & Ticketing problems

  • If one of your group on an Advance Admission Package has to arrive late - turn up at the Pre-Paid Queue as normal. You'll collect all the beer tokens but be given a paper entrance ticket to hand to the latecomer. Get them to phone you when they arrive and rendezvous by the fence to hand them the ticket. They then join the Pre-Paid Queue to collect their glass and enter the festival.
  • If you arrive at the entrance with a ticket for a different session then we will honour the ticket subject to payment of any difference in entry price. We ask however that you do not do this if at all possible as it will complicate and slowdown the entry process.
  • If you need to reprint an E-Ticket please visit our Reprint Ticket page.
