The Campaign for Real
Ale (CAMRA) is the largest consumer organisation in Europe.
It has campaigned tirelessly since 1971 to ensure that British traditional
cask conditioned ale remains on sale in good condition in the vast majority of our pubs.
The fight is by no means over, as we enter the new millenium facing the challenges
of further brewery closures; bland nitro-keg 'smooth' beers; use of cask breathers;
over use of swan necks and sparklers; and short measure dispense.
CAMRA membership brings a range of benefits:
- Significant discounts on The Good Beer Guide and other CAMRA
books and products.
- Free or reduced price admission to CAMRA beer festivals.
- What's Brewing newspaper delivered monthly to all members.
- Members help out at beer festivals and enjoy excellent social activities.
- Pub selection for The Good Beer Guide is carried out by members.
- Members can stand for election to office, attend the annual conference to speak and to vote, and help organise local campaigns.
